Goldfish Aquarium is an incredibly realistic, high-resolution goldfish tank, brilliantly brought to life on the computer screen. Users can choose their own goldfish from 12 different species -- each varying in color and size -- that look and swim just like real fish. They can watch Ginger, an orange and white fish with silvery reflective scales; Cali, a black, white and orange calico; or Algernon, a dark bronze metallic. These and other colorful goldfish characters mingle playfully while providing hours of beautiful scenery and relaxing entertainment.

Depending on which of the six backgrounds the user displays, they can select from five to ten different fish to inhabit their Goldfish Aquarium, or the tanks can be set to randomly change species automatically. The fish can be viewed from a side-view or from the top down as though looking into a private goldfish pond. Bonus features allow the user to view the Goldfish Aquarium with the fish swimming in silhouette within a darkened tank or in wire frame mode for a "behind the scenes" look at computer-generated fish and backgrounds.

Dynamic lighting and customizable settings allow the scene to adapt to the user's decor or mood. For example, soft bubble sounds can be turned on to transform a computer screen into a soothing underwater habitat. With easy keystrokes the aquariums themselves can be changed to showcase 3D environments, ranging from a richly detailed rock garden to a lush swaying aquatic forest -- six different aquarium configurations in all.
